Wednesday December 5, 2018 & Thursday December 6, 2018

Learning Target: Students will be well informed members of society and will be able to formulate educated opinions on global, national, and local issues. Students will know and understand the physical and human geography of Europe. Students will understand current issues that Europe is facing. Students will understand the basic forms of government and where they came from. 

Circle: What is the number 1 thing you are asking for on Christmas this year?

World Issues: You will have ten minutes to work on your World Issues Projects.

Ancient Greek Governments: In this unit we will be focusing on the Ancient Greeks and Ancient Romans and be looking at the different forms of government that they used. Today, we will be looking at what an Oligarchy is and how it looked in Ancient Sparta.

- 2 Kings control the military.
- 5 elected officials carried out the laws. These men had the authority to prosecute court cases.
- 30 elected men sat on the Council of Elders. You had to be 60 or older. They were on this for life. 
- All 30 or older citizens were part of the assembly.
- You could not vote unless you owned property.

You will be writing a definition for Oligarchy in your notes on classroom.

We will end class by reading this article.
