Thursday August 30, 2018 & Friday August 31,2018

TODAY'S LEARNING TARGET: Students will be learning how to build a community in the classroom and how to cooperate with each other. Students will become more comfortable with their classmates.

-Circle: If you could have a face to face conversation with one celebrity, who would it be and why? When it is your turn, you must name the four people before you and which celebrity they chose.

-Discussion in circle: What are learning targets and why are they important for you to know? What is the learning target for circles? What is the learning target for today's activities?

-Whole Class Activity: "Birthday Lineup"- Students will have to line themselves up in order of their birthdays without speaking.

-Seating Chart Activity: "Two Truths one Lie"- Each student will write down on a sheet of paper two things that are true about themselves and one thing that is a lie. Students will then guess which facts are lies.

-Seating Chart Activity: "Marshmallow Builder"- Students will be given 30 marshmallows and 20 tooth picks. They will then work together as a team to try and build the tallest tower they can using these materials (the tower must be able to stand on it's own). The team with the tallest tower after 20 minutes wins.
Rule: Once a tooth pick is stuck into a marshmallow, it may not be unstuck.

Seating Chart Activity: "Human Knot"- In their seating chart groups, students will stand in a circle. They will then each put both hands into the circle. Looking the other direction, stands will grab two other students hands. Each group must then untangle themselves.
