Learning Target: Students will be learning how to build a classroom community.

Circle: Come up with an item that you would bring to a picnic. The item must start with the same letter as you first name. You will have to say the name and picnic item for the 3 people ahead of you.

Seating Chart: You will be getting your first seating chart of the year. Once everyone is situated at their table, each group member will share out their favorite pet they have every had.

Discuss & Report Out: We will be going over the procedure of discussing as a small group and then reporting out as a large group. We will be doing this a lot in class.

Classroom Rules: You will be working together in small groups to come up with a set of classroom rules. You will then be reporting out to the class. The oldest person in the group will be recording and the youngest will be reporting out.

Seating Charts: You will be working together in your groups to make a t-chart for the positives and negatives of having a seating chart. The tallest person in the group will take notes, the person with the darkest hair will report out.

Claim, Evidence Warrant: We will be clarifying together as a class what claim, evidence, warrant is.

Seating Chart Paragraph: Using the t-charts you just put together, you will have 7 minutes to write a claim, evidence warrant paragraph arguing whether or not you would use seating charts if you were a teacher.

Two Truths and a Lie: You will be playing two truths and a lie with the people at your tables.

Birthday Lineup: Without talking or writing, line yourselves up in order of your birthdays from January to December.

Exit Ticket: What is one thing you are excited about for high school and what is one thing you are nervous about?
