Week of 3/1/2021 - 3/5/2021

Learning Target: Students will be working to create a classroom learning community. Students will be working to get better at essential reading, writing, and analyzing skills. Students will understand the reasons why people live where they live.

QOD: Which two Canadian provinces border Maine? What is the most commonly sold vehicle brand in the United States?

Circle: What is your favorite type of sandwich? What is your favorite ice cream?

Push & Pull Factors: I will be introducing what push & pull factors are. You will then be researching & brainstorming what possible push and pull factors might be.

American Immigration: We will be working with the article below to discuss the current trends of American Immigration. We will be trying to find out where people are coming from, and WHY they are coming to America. 

"Death Train": We will be watching this video that follows a group of people's journey to America.

Discussion: We will be having group discussions and then a class discussion about the video we watched. What do we think the United States should do about what is going on in these South American countries?

Writing: You will be writing a reflection in Google Classroom based on what you have learned today.

After circle, you will be leaving zoom and working on your own.

Exploration: You should explore this website. Some of it may be a little confusing and that's okay, just do your best! Your goal is to learn about the process for becoming an American citizen. After looking through this website, take a look at this link which will show you the civics test you have to pass in order to become a citizen.

Writing: After looking through the links above, you will go to Google Classroom and complete the assignment on there titled "Citizenship Process".
