Tuesday October 15, 2019 & Wednesday October 16, 2019

Learning Target: Students will be able to evaluate a source using point of view and bias. Students will be to effectively write an argument using claim, evidence, warrant.

Circle: What room in your house do you spend the most waking hours in?

Seating Chart: Students will be getting a new seating chart today.

Your Enigmatic Self: Students will be writing down two or three little known facts about themselves. Each class, one table group is going to share out these facts and the rest of the class must try and guess which person the facts are for.

Primary vs Secondary: We will be having a brief conversation about the difference between a primary and secondary source.

Bias & POV: Students will be turning and talking in their table groups about what bias and POV are, and how they relate to primary and secondary sources.

Football Game DBQ: Students will start by reading over the situation description and we will make sure everyone knows what the objective of this activity is. The process for then going through the documents will look like this:
-Students silently read the document as well as look at who it’s written by.
-Students discuss at their table groups what the document is telling them as well as what potential biases the author may have.
-One student from each table group will stand up and report out what their group discussed.

Writing: Students will be writing a claim, evidence, warrant paragraph arguing how great (or not so great) the catch really was. They will also be color coding the claim, evidence, and warrants in their paragraph.
