Tuesday October 23, 2018 & Wednesday October 24, 2018

Today's Learning Target: Students will be able to locate people, places, and things throughout the world. Students will understand how humans impact the environment and vice versa. Students will be well informed members of society and will be able to formulate educated opinions on global, national, and local issues.

Circle: What was your favorite Disney movie as a kid?

World Issues Projects: This is the beginning of Quarter 2, which means it's time to start our new projects. We will be going over the rubric quickly to make sure we are all on the same page. We will then take 15 minutes to make sure you have a topic you really want to research.

Sox in 4: We will be looking at a sample claim, evidence, warrant paragraph.
Step 1: 5 minutes to color code the paragraph individually
Step 2: 5 minutes to discuss in groups the color coding. Can you come to an agreement on how it should be coded? Each group will report out.
Step 3: 2 minutes to individually look through and spot sentences that are unnecessary.
Step 4: 2 minutes as a group to agree on sentences that aren't necessary. Groups report out.

Thesis vs Claim: The Thesis is what your whole paper is trying to prove. You then have supporting Claims that back up the Thesis. Make sure that you all have a thesis stated in the introductory paragraph as well as supporting claims to start each paragraph.

Edit Work Time: The rest of class is yours to work on edits for your papers. If you finish early, work on your World Issues Projects.

Exit Ticket: What do you know about Europe? What countries are there? What issues is Europe facing currently? Do you know anything about the history of Europe or any of the countries within it?
